Holy smokes. This book. I cannot believe it was free. This book deserves to be on a bestseller list. It was absolutely wonderful and I cannot stop thinking about it. Truly the most original work I've read in ages. I couldn't get over how well-developed all the characters were and how well their relationships flowed. With so many of the fantasy novels I've read on Kindle, we seem to see the same old boy-obsessed young woman with low-self esteem, who somehow finds herself embroiled in a paranormal world, while the real world doesn't seem to understand her and her family remains cardboard, wooden,and clueless. This is not that kind of book. The heroine felt like someone I would know and enjoy being friends with. Her family remained important to her even after she got caught up in the magic of the plot, and the romance, when it finally came (and oh how I rooted for it!!), ADDED to the plot instead of becoming the only element that mattered. An incredible series and I cannot wait for the next book! Keep writing amazing lady!!Product details

I have been eager for this continuation of the Gamayun Prophecies. I was hooked by Call of Affliction and couldn't wait to see what was next for Galine and Sasha. It is not good news. Galine's suspicions about Alex were right on track and what he does is atrocious and will make you cry. We learn a lot more about Sasha's past. We also learn more about Galine's father. There are lots of surprises and big changes for all of the characters. I can't wait for the next book now to see where it all goes.
I highly recommend this series. Please do read the first book before starting the second so you can really enjoy the richness of the story. It is just a really unique story and like nothing I have read before. The characters are really complex and developed and I really identified with Galine from the beginning. She is such a fighter. She refuses to give in or give up regardless of the circumstances. Galine always prioritizes those she cares for above herself. I think that is why I liked Sasha so much as he is the only one who really makes sure she is taken care of too. He always puts her first. They are a great couple with amazing chemistry. Yes, their love is an important element of the story but at the heart it is so much more than a romance. I love mythology and history and the Russian elements of the story appeal to me a great deal.

Really like this series. This is the saddest book of the series. Poor Galine starts to lose everything she loves... Will she get it all back and survive the betrayal of one she trusted? Who is Alex??? Yes I bought the next book...
The second book in the series continues with the tight writing and well-defined plot, further developing the characters along the way. The storyline moves along quickly, and I was surprised when I finished the book that I had consumed all 355 pages in one sitting. Very enjoyable read and I am looking forward to book #3!
I loved this second book. Galine is an awesome lead character, grumpy and caring and fierce and naive all at once. It stayed with me for days after I had read it. Really cool. I didn't find it dark, even by comparison with the first. This book has a lot more action than the first book and less romance. It's not a predictable storyline which makes it a fun read.
Eek! I am so hooked....the first book was spectacular, and book two didn't disappoint, at all. I'm on the edge of my seat for the next one, which will gladl be out next month. Yay!
This book is original, as you can see from the author synopsis, and the love between Sasha and Galine is addictive. I just want to read more and more about them. I both love and hate Alex, which read entirely the author's point, I'm sure. And since I both love and hate Harper, it works out perfectly ;)
Seriously, March, hurry up already!
Book two does not disappoint! I was hoping for more back story of characters to be revealed and got exactly what I wanted. This is one of my favorite things that Chase does. She makes complex characters come to life so much so that you feel you know them, but you are always left wondering what new things will be divulged. Characters continue to develop and even suprise you!
I also love the new imagery that takes place in this novel as Chase takes us into the spiritual realms of this earth and beyond. And though I believe others have seen this as a turn toward darker prose, I didn't find it dark. I found it truthful and realistic. Yes there are dark characters and intense subject matter, but I wouldn't describe it as dark. Dark material to me suggests a lack of hope, and Chase keeps the door of hope open.
Looking forward to seeing where book 3 leads!
