M. C. Beaton is the pen name of bestselling novelist Marion Chesney. The author has written under various names, most notably as M. C. Beaton for her Hamish Macbeth and Agatha Raisin series. The Agatha Raisin novels have recently been adapted into a hit television show starring Ashley Jensen and are available to watch on Acorn TV. She is also the prolific writer of Regency romances, beloved for their wit and historical accuracy. The Poor Relation series, which chronicles adventures of love and scandal at one of one of London’s most popular hotels, has also been optioned for television. Marion has also has written under the names Sarah Chester, Helen Crampton, Ann Fairfax, Marion Gibbons, Jennie Tremaine, and Charlotte Ward. Born in Scotland, the author began her writing career as a fiction buyer for a Glasgow bookstore and has worked as a theater critic, newspaper reporter, and editor. This 5th volume of the 6 Sisters series has been the best so far. A Fantastic heroine, a delicious hero, a ridiculous plot, all mixed up with the usual supporting cast. Diana loves the hunt. Hijinx ensue when her father is convinced to allow her to join the hunt if she dresses in men's clothes. Add a card sharp who looks like a dark Adonis and a somewhat reformed rake into the mix and you get a delightful, well-written regency. Very highly recommended for all Regency Romance lovers.Product details

Why do these young women always fall for the bad guy? Some interesting twists to this one. It kept me reading.
I am now reading the 6th volume. love how each sister comes alive and you get to know the characters in all of these books. Each sister is diffrent , Diana the most outgoing.
The series is fun but after the first two you see a pattern. Afterwards, you know what is going to happen by the first quarter of the book. As fan of Beaton, I just had to keep reading.
Lots of fun! MC Beaton does great at the Regency Romance genre!
MC Beaton has done a good job of studying the fashion and behavior of English society. Descriptions of the mannerisms, dresses, and courtship in Regency England is very well done. The stories themselves are charming. I enjoyed this.
Yes, the stories of the sisters (5 out of 6 at least) follow the same formula .... So I don't claim that the books entertain me because they are all so dis-similar! They do, though, entertain wonderfully. Though the books' formulas are the same, the personalities inserted are so different from each other that the unfolding is still rewarding enough to make them a great fun read. Most enjoyable!
Old stories written by dead authors, new stories written by authors still alive, can be just as good to read today as they were when written. Reading about Regency England is my favorite time period to enjoy. I picked this story because the author's style of storytelling matches my reading interest level. An easy story for an easy read.
